Super Happy Awesome News

A Musical Written to be Rehearsed and Performed Remotely!

Directed by Penelope Haskew
San Juan County Fairgrounds
Calling all island students grades K-8!
Auditions for Super Happy Awesome News, this year's Family Theatre production, will be open to all students grades K-8. Super Happy Awesome News will be held in-person, outside at the SJC Fairgrounds!  In order to manage our numbers in a safe way we are asking that auditioners sign up for a slot using the appropriate Sign Up Genius link, found below.

We will be seeing kids in Kindergarten through 2nd grade on Monday Sept. 21, kids in 3rd and 4th grades on Tuesday Sept. 22, kids in 5th and 6th grade on Wednesday Sept. 23, and kids in 7th and 8th grades on Thursday Sept. 24. If you can't come on the day your grade is scheduled or the time slots are full please email Director Penelope Haskew at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
When you arrive you will be asked to fill out an audition form, answer some now-standard health questions and fill out a contact tracing form. Then we'll do a quick audition in our small groups. Remember to bring a mask, know your after-school schedule, and phone numbers and emails of all parents/guardians.
Super Happy Awesome News is a musical that was written to be rehearsed and performed remotely and our final performance will be an online event, filmed with each actor in their own space. However, we want to take advantage of our beautiful open spaces and still get to see each other live in-person, so some rehearsing will be done outside. If, however, you feel safer not meeting in person at all, that is okay too!  Email Penelope and she will arrange a time to do an online audition and we can keep our rehearsing completely online too.
Rehearsals will begin the week of September 28 and run through November 11 with our Opening Night/Premiere Showing on Thursday November 12. This year's production, being an online event, will require fewer hours than past shows and students will have a lighter weekly rehearsal schedule. However we plan to make the most of the time together with the extra theatre games and exercises to add to the fun!

Grades 3 and 4
