Children's Education Programs

The San Juan Community Youth Theatre program’s mission is to nurture the intellectual, artistic and personal development of children and youth through multi-arts education, performing opportunities, and extraordinary theatre experiences.

Theatre Arts for Kids



*WORKSHOPS and CLASSES FOR YOUTH

During the year, both SJCT staff and island theatre arts leaders host afterschool or summer workshops that may include such themes as beginning acting, movement on stage and behind the scenes technical skills.

*SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP

A three-week day camp for ages 7 to 16, culminating in public musical theatre performances in the Whittier.

*SJCT FAMILY THEATRE

Under the direction of Penelope Haskew, dozens of volunteers and a cast of children and adults/parents present a major staged production in the Whittier.


*SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

SJCT works with local schools on productions presented annually in the Whittier and Gubelman Theatres.
